As many of you are probably doing, I find myself looking for ways that I can help the worldwide causes that are in jeopardy. Since the health of our environment is one of the areas of particular threat, and a great concern of mine, I have decided to offer my services in exchange for donations to environmental charities. The offer is good through the month of February. In return for a 30-minute energy healing session (distant or in-person), or a 30-minute intuitive reading (distant or in-person), I am asking that you make a donation to a reputable environmental organization. There are so many charities and causes concerned with preserving and improving the health of our planet, I don’t wish to limit your choices. If, though, you need some suggestions, click here for a great list.
To redeem this offer, please email me at aekehas@gmail.com with a receipt of your donation and preferred dates and times for your healing or reading. For more information, you can visit my website at www.aletheakehas.com

I have found grace, again. You could say I just went through another “Dark Night of the Soul.” One of many, but this one was particularly acute. This one began on my birthday, if you are interested in reading that story you can find it in my post The Return of the Goddess. It came to a head one month later, when I entered one of my darkest nights and found myself doubting whether I was going to find the light again. “You’re not a quitter,” my good friend told me as I sobbed over the phone 3,000 miles away from her.
She was right. I have never given up, even in my darkest moments when the light seemed to flicker in a shroud of darkness inside of me, gasping for air, and I had no real intention of giving up then. Yet, grace seemed illusive, a state so far from where I was, that I could not imaging reaching it again.
I have found grace, again. The light, burning inside has erupted through the shroud of shadows and pronounced victory. Grace, I have found, is subtle. It is gentle, yet profoundly beautiful as it works its way through the pain to find the heart of life and beat it gently back into rhythm. Let me give you some of the story so you will better understand the cycle as it came through me.
On my 43rd birthday, my pain-body, or shadow-self, called out to be seen. I saw that inner-child and the goddess-woman still hiding in the shadows wanting to be healed and brought back into the light. Through the course of the ensuing month, I was faced with many tests that brought me ever-deeper into the darkness that needed to be explored and healed. As all spiritual tests are that ask us to evolve, these were not easy, and after one full month of them with little respite, I felt brought to the point of collapse, yet in an almost sadistic way, I was also saying to the Universe, “bring it on, let’s do this.”
And so the adage, “be careful what you ask for, you just might get it,” could be applied, yet I also believe that we are never given what we cannot, in theory, handle. So, I worked though the horrific dreams at night and the daily, sometimes, horrific, ordeals of waking time. I started going to tai chi classes on Fridays, a few hours after my regular yoga class. As a friend so eloquently stated during lunch today, when yoga is practiced as intended “it is like inviting God into your body.” Or, it could be said, it is like letting the God force that is within you, but only simmering, stir back into life. Yoga, tai chi and other activities that work with the life fore energy, can be incredibly intense, leaving you feeling like you have literally had a battle of light against darkness.
In the midst of this, I decided to get myself an energy healing that focused on releasing ancestral trauma and abuse, going deep through the lineages to release stored memories of trauma, including those passed down (which, by the way, was on a Friday, right in the middle of yoga and tai chi). Foolishly, I had hoped to be done with the worse part of what I had been experiencing after the session. As my friend 3,000 miles away reminded me, “You know better than that, Alethea. You’ve told me about how this works before,” adding an anecdote just in case I needed proof.
So, the wave of darkness came crashing down in full force this past week. One of the most dramatic incidences that occurred involved witnessing my daughter’s terror at being exposed to a horrific story at school by a police officer teaching drug education. The aftermath of this being almost as unpleasant as the episode itself, showcasing the shadow-side of many involved, along with my own.
In the midst of all of this, I began reading M. Scott Peck’s, M.D. book People of the Lie: The Hope of Healing Human Evil. Having just finished The Road Last Traveled by Peck, something nudged me to go further into this place of darkness inside to explore. And there was that moment, yes, that moment, where I had to ask myself, are you dancing with the “devil?” Now let me clarify, by “devil,” I adhere to Peck’s then 8-yr-old son who defined the devil to be the opposite of “live,” or “lived,” which is the word spelled in reverse. That state of non”life” where we can succumb completely to the darkness that resides inside. I knew I was agreeing to push myself to the brink of fear, and as my spiritual mentor pointed out to me after my lasted journal for the Silent Eye School of Consciousness, “You are really going through some dark things at present… but always remember that the ball cannot bounce until it hits the ground…and the harder it falls, the higher it will soar.” It’s worth also mentioning that this dark night was occurring during the 6th month of my second year with the school. The half-way point. One could also say, the turning point.
Those words were written by my mentor a week ago, and as I’ve just said, it got worse before it got better.
I realized the light of grace was returning to me last night, in my dreams, where I often learn a lot about myself. I found myself riding in airplanes (the symbolism of which you can look up) to faraway destinations I had never been to, by myself, without the baggage I was accustomed to taking with me. The planes dived and flipped in mid-air, I found myself without my seat-belt on, I was in a strange place with strange people, yet I was okay.
I woke feeling lighter, much lighter that I have for many days. The tests that could trigger me during the morning, did not. At 11:15 I got into my blue Volt, and started driving north to meet my friend for lunch. I felt exhilarated, like I had new life coursing inside me. A large crow flew from the forest beside the road and straight over me, as though guiding me north, for some time. I smiled. The crow had returned. The messenger that reminds me of rebirth out of darkness. And it never left. Through the entire ride there and back home, the crow appeared often. At the beginning of the ride home, going south, it emerged from the forest with a red apple in its mouth, and flew over the car once again, turning south to guide me. I found myself filled with gratitude. In the parking lot there had been a car parked beside me with 444 on its plate, during the ride home, 555 (for more information on number meanings I recommend Doreen Virtue’s resources or Joanne Sacred Scribe’s website. I felt incredibly blessed and guided, and I knew the light inside had won, again. I knew that I had just turned another corner in this journey of life.
As I continued to drive, with crows appearing in trees and in flight beside me, I listened to the end of a story on NPR about a writer who had suffered brain damage from an accident, and had not only survived, but thrived from her ordeal. She had transformed her darkness into light. After the story was over, I hit the buttons on my touchscreen to find music, and found John Legend’s song “All of Me” playing. Impulsively I started singing, surprising myself with the harmony of our voices. I sang loud and with passion. I sang to myself, “all of me loves all of you,” and I meant it. And I cried, again. Not from a place of despair, but from the state of gratitude, surrender, and grace. I felt filled with light and life.
Mourning dove feather I found on my path: “Light emerges out of darkness”
Last night I woke around 2:00 am because the sensor light in my daughter’s room was on. Finding her sound asleep, I touched the lamp to turn it off and went back to bed, but could not fall back to sleep. As I closed my eyes, an image of the elephant exhibit at the Oregon Zoo popped into my head, a place I had visited each year as a child when I would go west to see my birth father.
Elephant in Captivity at Oregon Zoo. A haunting sight/A haunted site
Soon images of elephants held in captivity for human entertainment filled my mind. I saw their eyes. Have you ever looked into an elephant’s eyes and read the story they tell? Try it. You will be forever changed. I can recall that day, six years ago, when I took my children to the Oregon Zoo and looked into this elephant’s eyes pictured above and read sorrow. I was filled with guilt. What was I doing? What were we all doing? What had we collectively done to these wise beings?
Born into Captivity
Elephants are highly intelligent animals. Their eyes, and the wisdom they hold, remind me of the eyes of whales. It is widely known and accepted that elephants are deeply empathic creatures who hold the family unit as sacred. They form bonds with others, including humans who show them compassion, which stretch beyond their individual lifetimes. Their psychic connections, along with their ability to remember, surpass our own. When you look into an elephant’s eyes, you get the impression that you will be remembered long after you leave. You, if you are aware of what you are seeing, will never forget the experience. You will be forever changed.

Several weeks ago, while sitting in meditation, the image of that elephant held behind those bars at the Oregon Zoo returned to me. I saw only its eyes and this time I read their plea for help. I had no choice but to remember. Until, once again, I tried to forget.
Sometimes we seek out messengers, sometimes they come to us. Often, these messengers are animals. We all have spirit, or totem animals, who help us along at various stages of our life journeys, and sometimes we are asked to give help in return. In the early hours of this morning, I found myself struggling with the messenger who had come to me again. With the same plea, “Help me.”
An Unnatural Habitat
Please consider donating to the cause of placing elephants in sanctuaries instead of zoos at In Defense of Animals. In return, if you email me a copy of your donation receipt at aekehas@gmail.com, I’ll give you a free, 3-card tarot reading for whatever life question you would like insight on.
While I was having a past-life regression with Karen Kubicko on 11/14/15, I was given information by my spirit guides about how to co-create a New Earth. I would like to share this information with you so that you can perform a meditation privately, or in a group setting, if you feel called to do so. Performing this as a group will magnify the vibration, but as I was shown, one person holding the light can also have a great effect. We sometimes forget how powerful we are. It’s time to remember the Light, which we are all a part of. It’s time to create, together, a New Earth.
To be a conscious co-creator of this Light that is Love there are no physical tools needed. Of course you may use crystals, candles and other items that you wish to help bring you to the vibrational state of heart-centered Love, but really this is all that is required. the heart-centered state of Love. You may sit in silence, or play a piece of beautiful music softly in the background. Whatever feels right for you and your group is right.
If you are working in a group, you may wish to sit in a circle and hold hands. Joining your energy in this physical way can be quite powerful. If you are performing this mediation alone, you need only an undisturbed space where you can enter the heart-center that resides within you, connecting you to the universal vibration that is Love.
Once you are settled into this state, ask that the Rainbow Frequencies of Light be downloaded into your DNA, or if they are already downloaded, ask or feel your connection to them. Allow whatever time is needed for this to occur. Feel the wonderful sensation of this beautiful frequency of Light inside your body. Feel it connecting you to Source and all beings that exist in this high vibrational state.
See with you inner eye and feel these Beings of Love surrounding you and Earth. Allow yourself to receive the knowing that there is an abundance of loving guidance and help waiting to be given, you need only to ask. To be an open vessel to receive. Ask for it now. Ask that you and Earth be surrounded by the highest frequency of this Love-Light and that a New Earth be co-created, or resurrected. As the New Earth that waits to be created is actually a resurrection of Earth before fear was allowed to over-shadow Love.
Feel the grace of being, and the knowing that you are a conscious co-creator of this New Earth that is Love. See this New Earth as it manifests itself to you inside the palette of your heart’s eye. It is Joy. Pure Joy manifested. Feel it. Know it. It is Truth, which is Beauty.
Now allow yourself to become a channel of Light that is pure Joy and Love. You are a host, a vessel to bring forth this Light that is Love into Earth. Allow it to move where it is needed, spreading and seeding the Light into Earth. Know that this Light that is Love is connecting to the Love that resides in all beings who call Earth home, and that you are gently, and through the highest intention of Love, helping them to remember this Light that is also their Light. You are helping to reconnect the Universal Web of Light that is also the Sacred Song of “Om.”
If you feel inspired to do so, chant “Om” aloud, or within your heart-space, calling forth and connecting with the Sacred Song, the Universal Song. Feel and see your connection to all beings who sing this song, such as the whales and dolphins. Feel and know the indescribable Peace it brings.
You may now choose to continue spreading and seeding the Light, or you may choose to take it further, allowing the Light to not only spread and seed, but also to erase fear. Again, ask for guidance from these 5th dimensional beings and beyond, angels, archangels, ascended masters and the Divine, in the highest intention that is pure Love, to allow you to channel the Light while you, together, erase the habit of fear that is trapped inside Earth and inside the hearts of many of her children, over-shadowing the Light that is Love. This is allowed now, because it is needed. It is allowed because you are working in the highest vibration that is Love. Know this as Truth.
You might see this erasing as a large broom sweeping across Earth, gently brushing out the vibration of fear, or you may feel that you have become, in this state of intention, like a tornado of Light moving across Earth and her waters. The channel of Light that is you, moves to the pockets of held fear, opening them up to Light. Sending and transmuting this trapped habit of fear back to Light that is Love. That is Joy.
Again, allow this sweeping of fear and channeling of Light to occur as long as you feel is needed, or that is comfortable for you. Know that you will be this vessel for as long as is needed, or that you allow. Remember that you have free will and that this will be honored.
When you are finished, give gratitude and thanks. Send Love to Gaia and to her waters. The waters hold memories and emotions. When we send Love to water, in particular, we transmute trapped fear into Love, returning the memory of being in this frequency of Love that connects us to the Sacred Song, into the cells of our being. The water inside of us raises to the frequency of Joy at the same time, providing healing to ourselves and the waters of Earth.
Send gratitude to Source and all the beings of pure Love and Light who have helped you be a vessel of Light. Ask that they continue to work through you and with you to co-create and resurrect this New Earth. Ask that they inspire your work and your art with the Rainbow Frequency of Light so that it is infused with the Beauty of Truth. And ask that other Warriors of Light be inspired to co-create this New Earth in whatever way they are called to do so.
Perform and share this meditation as often as you desire, in the highest intention of Light that is Love.
My deepest gratitude and Love to you for sharing the Light, Alethea

1-card readings May 28, 2015
Moodie Chic asked, “Why am I always feeling so alone?”
I was guided to use Doreen Virtue’s “Life Purpose Oracle Cards” for this reading. The card I drew for you was “Crystals.” Please study the image in the card and use your own intuitive insights as well as the messages I received from it.
Crystals by Doreen Virtue, Life Purpose Oracle Cards
Those of us who often feel lonely in this lifetime have chosen to experience this as part of their journey and lessons. It is not always easy to be comfortable alone, but in solitude we can find our greatest source of love and healing. Moodie Chic, you have a strong connection to gemstones and crystals, these healing energies that come from the heart of Earth are great gifts of healing to be used with love and gratitude. They connect us not only to Earth’s healing light, but also to the Source/Divine healing light of the angelic realms. When you work with stones and crystals, make a conscious decision to connect to their healing gifts and wisdom. Infuse your art with this healing and, in doing so, you will gain greater connection with yourself, the Earthly realms and the etheric realms. When you extend your gifts out to others through crystals and stones, you will be creating a connection of the heart, which is truly the greatest gift we can give to one another. Also, since the color purple is so prominent in this card, you may want to evoke the energy of St. Germaine. Archangel Raphael is coming to mind. Purple is a wonderfully healing and soothing energy and will help you to feel more connected and in tune with the love energy of the Universe.
Barbara asked, “Will I soon find acceptance in this difficult situation I have been going through and trying to heal and resolve, or do I still have unseen work to do?”
For your question, I used “The Gilded Tarot” deck by Ciro Marchetti. The card I drew for you was the “8 of Pentacles.” Please study the image in the card and use your own intuitive insights as well as the messages I received from it.
8 of Pentacles by Ciro Marchetti, Gilded Tarot
The pentacles evoke sacred geometry and the Enneagram, which can be looked at as a symbol of the journey one takes in life (to put it in very simple terms). The pentacles are often seen as the symbol of Earthly riches and the energies associated with wealth and abundance. In this image, 7 pentacles are above you, ungrounded. If you look closer, they could be seen as being tangled in spider webs. This difficult situation that you have been dealing with has used up a lot of mental energy for you, and has caused you to call into question the very essence of who you are. This can also be seen by your study of the 8th pentacle that you hold in your hand like a scholar. The situation has been a big lesson in your life, and one you agreed to take on with the other parties involved. Do try to remember this, as difficult as it has been, there is a greater purpose to the events. That cloak of red energy you are wearing is held by the blue energy of truth wrapped with the purple energy of healing and divine wisdom. Take care not to expend too much mental energy thinking about the “why’s” and “what ifs” in this situation (the blue cap on your head hints at mental energy and your close study of the pentacle), but allow the pentacles to fall back into their places. The mice in the card and the cobwebs are reminders that this situation has caused you to neglect other parts of your daily life, and it has caused imbalance. You are being called to surrender this situation and its lessons to the heart, where the energies can be diffused, resolved and accepted. It is not the knowing of why that is so important, but an acceptance of it as a difficult gift that you have agreed to experience. Also, because there is a spider in this image, you may gain healing and relief by writing about this experience, even if it is simply for your own eyes to view. Writing can be a deeply cathartic act, helping you to understand and release the tangled emotions you hold within. Light three candles, as you do this, and send out the intention of love, grace and forgiveness for all involved.
Titania asked, “What is the overall energy of the month of June as it relates to my current circumstances.”
For your question I used Steven D. Farmer’s “Earth Magic” oracle cards, and drew the card “GAIA: Nurturing.” Please study the image in the card and use your own intuitive insights as well as the messages I received from it.
GAIA: Nurturing by Steven D. Farmer, Earth Magic Oracle Cards
June, the month of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, is a month filled with the abundance of light and the growth of life. You are being asked to work with these wonderful energies in the weeks ahead, nurturing both the life within you and the life around you. Embrace the Mother energies so abundantly available in this month, as well as the access and connection to the source of light. There is the potential for great growth to occur within you and, also, the ability, if you choose, for you to seed the growth in others. This card reminds you that all life is birthed from the Mother energy, and there is no limit to its abundance. There is no limit to growth and healing. I am drawn to the rainbow rays that extend from the hands of the Gaia goddess image in this card. When you look at both hands, you see that the growth is not just a physical manifestation, but also a healing. Allow the development and sharing of the healing gifts you hold within as you enter this next month of growth and abundance. Nurture yourself, and through this nurturing, allow your gifts to touch those around you, but take care not to over-whelm yourself with this intention. Let it flow naturally and easily. Do not let it cloud the vision you hold to be true, and make sure your words are clearly spoken with kindness. Your gifts are waiting to be brought to the Earth, to spread and take life. To seeded, nurtured and grown.
MM L4 asked, “What is the best way to move forward with the sale of my house in order to move in the spring of 2016.”
I used Kris Waldherr’s deck “The Goddess Tarot” for your reading. Please study the image in the card and use your own intuitive insights as well as the messages I received from it.
5 of Pentacles by Kris Waldherr, Goddess Tarot
Your card was the “5 of Pentacles.” This card evokes the energies associated with the number 5, which often center around personal action and/or struggle/conflict as well as the earthly concerns associated with the pentacles (such as wealth and finances). In this card I see two aspects of you, the once that is cloaked in an internal struggle, and the one that is looking toward a future possibility. This move does not appear to be an easy one for you to process, and you have wrapped yourself up inside a cocoon of concerns that are, in some ways, impeding the flow of internal energies that are needed for you to allow this move to occur with ease and grace. Know that these struggles are within you, and not external hurdles. When you let go of these wrappings, the energies needed for the move and the sale of your home will arrive with ease and grace. It is causing you to be in a state of winter, dormancy and inaction, but look at the spring energies surrounding the image that holds you. New life is waiting for you, and you know this, because there also exists that other aspect of yourself that is contemplating the new life and what it will offer to you. So, you are being asked to shed these wraps and fully step into the energies of the new. Don’t hold onto worry or fear, or any feeling that weighs you down and prevents movement and clear vision. Open up fully to the move and the new path of your journey and embrace its gifts.
Alia asked, “For insight on moving, including when, where and/or how.”
I drew 1 card from two different decks for this one, just for some clarity on the situation. The first card I drew was “Adjustment” from Aliester Crowley’s “Thoth” tarot and the second was “Raising Your Standards” from Doreen Virtue’s “Healing with the Fairies” oracle cards. Please study the images in the cards and use your own intuitive insights as well as the messages I received from them.
Doreen Virtue’s “Raising Your Standards” Healing with the Fairies oracle card and Aleister Crowley’s “Adjustment” Thoth tarot card
If you look at the images in both of the cards, you’ll see a theme with not only colors evoked, but also the energies exhibited in the figures. There is a sense of resignation seen in these figures, almost to the point to defeat, but not quite. This giving in to circumstances is no longer acceptable for your soul’s evolution and you are being asked to “raise your standards” and “adjust” the scales you weigh in your hands. It’s time to ask yourself some questions, such as “What is holding me back from moving?” “What weights have I placed on the my scales?” and “Why have I allowed my wings to extend but not take flight?” This is an internal struggle, and you have spent much time looking inward to the point of inertia. It’s time to remove the blindfold, lift the sword of action and move into the air of truth that is calling to you. You already know who you are, your wings are fully developed. The power of your calling is in your hands, but there is a need for movement. Not only must you adjust your standards, but raise them. Don’t settle. Remove the knot around your heart and lift your sights to the possibilities before you. This is what is holding you back. Doubt and an over-abundance of internal dialogue. You have already made the decision to move, as seen by the figure in Doreen’s deck (see how she has descended the steps from the house she was in), but you continue to look back, as though something is holding you to the old. I see this theme repeated more strongly in the “Adjustment” card where the figure has wrapped her feet around the sword she has grounded and there are 4 shapes evoking pillars of stability around her. It’s time to be bold and fly. Don’t doubt your ability. Look at those beautiful wings, which evoke the beautiful, confident energies of the peacock. The how, when and where is up to you, but I think it’s safe to say that you are being called to seek something greater than you might have thought previously attainable, and not just with your physical move. Take action towards that goal when you are ready. You are ready, it simply takes the choice to remove the blindfold.
As with any reading you receive, please take the insights that resonate with you and add to them your own intuitive guidance. Namaste, Alethea
I was looking through photographs, hoping for an image of baggage and hit the jack-pot when I stumbled upon this one. Baggage and behinds. Perfect! The idea that these kids (mine) were waiting for the school bus, also seemed to fit with the message I was going for. I couldn’t resist.
But this is a post about dreams, in the broadest sense of the word, and for quite some time I’ve been having a dialogue with my dream-self in an effort to shift my realities both at night and during the day. As many of you probably know, I’ve got a manuscript that’s been sitting in wait for awhile that I’d like to have published. There’s another one in the works. The finished one I wrote out of a need to heal myself, realizing as when I finished, that it had a universal message about voice and truth that applies to, well, just about anyone.
So, there’s this theme of healing and writing. They both, in my opinion go hand-in-hand. I I write to heal. I heal to write. This is a big part of my life’s journey. I’m here to incorporate both gifts in a life that involves truth, freedom and letting go of entanglements.
For those of you on a similar journey of healing, you will know that entanglements are of the self, and therefore it is up to the self to release and set free. Easier said than done. We cling to our baggage like we would cling to a life-raft at sea. Well, I do anyway.
If you were to flip through my dream journal, you would see a reoccurring theme of baggage. Our dream-selves love to use symbols and metaphors and some are rather blatantly obvious to get the point across. Quite frankly, though, I had had enough of these dreams about baggage. It was almost a guarantee that I’d go to sleep at night only to be immersed and a scene of frantic search. Usually I’m about to embark on, or leave from, a journey, and I’m in a frenetic race against time to collect all of my baggage in the form of clothes and various belongings I think I need for the trip. Things are often scattered in a cluttered room. There is too much of what I am looking to take with me. There is not enough time to collect it all. Heck, sometimes I’m even trying to wear it all. Crazy, I know. But, telling.
These last several nights I’ve been having a dialogue with that dream-self who is holding onto the idea of necessary baggage. “Give me a new reality,” I tell her each night before I succumb to slumber. For several nights I’ve refused to record her dreams, rebelling against the repetition of messages. “Show me a new reality.” And, last night, she did.
The funny thing is, I almost forgot the dream, and then I remembered.
It began as it typically does. The chaotic search for my hotel room and the things I think I need to take with me. I won’t bore you with the details, but it sure did seem to drag on endlessly. Then it shifted. There I was outside, doodling on a pad of paper, while a spirit guide with an Irish or British accent (hard to recall now) chattered in my ear. I glanced across a dirt road and saw belongings piled under a tree. They were not scattered or bagged, just a small pile in wait. A test.
“You know, you can leave it all behind,” she told me. And so I did.
It was effortless. Easy. There was no turning back. I simply left it. The female spirt guide became the physical manifestation of a man, who reminded me of the character Kane in the ’70s TV series “Kung Fu.” (For those of you who don’t know, I was named after the Jodi Foster guest character in an episode called “Alethea” that aired before my birth in 1973). I followed this Kane-like figure across the countryside and found myself without a scrap of baggage on me. Together we dove inside a hillside cave where a wondrous home was unveiled to me. Picture Dagobah mixed with Tatooine mixed with a Shaolin Temple on steroids and you’ll have an idea of what was offered to me. Suffice it to say, it was glorious. It was so worth it.
When we “leave it all behind,” we open the door to the magic waiting. Leaving the baggage of our pasts behind does not mean that we will forget that we had it. The life events still shape who we are. We learn from them, knowing that someday we will no longer need to hold on. When we strip bare the trappings in a bold release of freedom, we realize that what we thought we still needed was just baggage weighing us down. It has nothing of value, only the lessons we take with us, which are weightless. Last night I became The Fool in tarot, starting again at 0, only, unlike the fool, I carried nothing with me.
I am often asked by friends and clients about ways to stay grounded, protected and present in their lives. In essence, what they are asking for is how to stay in touch with the true essence of who they are, and to retrieve that place of inner wellbeing when its interrupted by life events and circumstances. These days I’ve been struggling a little with staying balanced and aligned with my inner harmony, so I thought I’d post some of my favorite tips and exercises.
Grounding
Many things can make us feel ungrounded, as though we are not wholly present inside of our bodies. If you find yourself ungrounded, try the following and add to them your own variations:
Becoming a Tree: Stop what you are doing and pull your awareness back to your body. Take some deep breaths in through your nose and bring the air deep into your belly before your exhale. After 2 or 3 breaths, begin to imagine you are a tree. Your feet are your roots and you are extending and growing these roots deep into the heart of Earth. Visualize and feel this if you can. When you have reached the heart of Earth, begin to draw, with your breath and intention, the healing and grounding energy (I like to imagine it as a red color) of Earth up through your extended roots, through the soles of our feet, and into every cell in your body. Keep breathing the energy in until you feel grounded and balanced.
Activating the Earth Star Chakra: The Earth Star Chakra exists below the base of your spine (where your Root Chakra is) and acts to ground you to the energy of the earth. To ground yourself through the Earth Star Chakra, simply close your eyes, and with intention, mentally say the words “Earth Star Chakra Activate.” This is simple, but should be done with intention, and a few seconds of concentrated breath and mental imagery if you are a visual person.
Eating: We often become ungrounded when we are hungry. If you feel that this is the reason for feeling irritable or light-headed, choose a healthy, grounding food, such as nuts, lean meats, root vegetables or dark chocolate.
Stones and Crystals: If you feel that you are frequently ungrounded, consider carrying or wearing the following stones or crystals: black tourmaline, black obsidian, or moss agate.
Balancing
Our bodies, just like the Earth, are constantly seeking a balanced and harmonious state, but many forces can off-set this. Here are some techniques for bringing balance back to your being:
Time in Nature’s Classroom: Time spent outdoors in nature will help your body realign into its natural rhythm. Of course, the more time, the better. In particular, I find walking in the woods to be incredibly healing and balancing. Other techniques include: walking barefoot over the substrate of Earth, doing yoga or tai chi outdoors (or indoors), mediating outside, and hugging or sitting under a tree (I like the energy of pines and maples for balancing).
Regular Exercise: Especially outdoors. Balancing exercises including walking, swimming, yoga and tai chi, which work to gently open and align our energy centers.
Eating Well: Everyone’s body is different, so learning what types of healing foods best balance your body is beneficial. It’s also important to drink water throughout the day. I find smaller meals more balancing than a couple of large meals. Also, try not to woof your food down, but chew thoroughly and add gratitude to your meals directed to the life sources you have derived your food from.
Stones and Crystals: There are lots to choose from. Some of my favorites are: rose quartz, amethyst, hematite and clear quartz. Choose the stone that you are drawn to. For example, you may be drawn to a red stone, indicating that your root chakra is out of balance, or a green stone because your heart chakra is closed off.
Art: I am using this term in the broadest possible way. Art comes in so many forms, and we are each born with our own unique expressions of it. Your art is what makes your heart and soul sing. For me, this is writing. What makes your heart sing? Try to nurture this energy through creative expression every day.
Water: Water is a natural balancer. It is the element of our emotions. Swimming, especially in a natural body of water, can be incredibly balancing, especially with gentle strokes or floating. Baths are also balancing. I try to take a cleansing/balancing bath at least once a month and always feel more peaceful afterwards.
Daily Meditation/Mindfulness: Spending even just a few minutes a day in mindfulness or the quite space of a meditative state can do wonders for our emotional and physical wellbeing. There are many resources available to assist you with this practice online and in bookstores. But, it need not be complicated. Closing your eyes, sitting comfortably, and relaxing with deep, belly breathing, will help bring you to a state of inner harmony. When thoughts pester your mind, allow them to flow through.
Cleansing
Many of us, unintentionally, pick up emotions and energies that are not ours, or are not in alignment with our inner harmony, throughout our days. These energies can make us irritable, anxious, angry, tired and argumentative. Here are some simple ways to cleanse these energies:
Imagine a Waterfall: Close your eyes, if you are able to (e.g., don’t do this while driving) and imagine you are standing under a beautiful waterfall. Feel the energy of the water pounding like a drumbeat over your body, vibrating your cells back into alignment. Stay in this energy for as long as you feel you need cleansing and give gratitude for the element of water.
Standing under Falling Water: Standing under an actual waterfall outside, or the waterfall of your shower, will naturally cleanse your body of impurities, including emotional ones, especially when done with intention. Ask the water to help cleanse you of emotional baggage, and feel the unwanted energies leave your body, carried with gratitude by water into Earth where they are recycled into new growth. Give thanks to the water and Earth. Since many of us shower or bathe everyday, this is a great opportunity cleanse emotional energies.
Cleansing Baths: Take a cleansing bath at least once a month, to which you might add: sea or epsom salts, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and/or essential oils. There are many recipes online for cleansing and detox baths. Choose what feels right for you, while being cautious not to over-due it.
Cutting cords: I like to call in the energy and assistance of AA Michael and his Sword of Truth when I feel that I have energetic cords that need to be cut. This could include attachments of energies that you know exist between you and another person that are based on fear, and not love, or cords that you feel binding you, but are unsure where they come from. To cut cords, try to enter into a quiet, meditative-like state, and visualize or feel the energy of AA Michael as you call in his presence. Feel and visualize his sword gently, but decisively, cutting the etheric cord(s) that are not wanted. Feel and visualize your energy returning whole to yourself, with the unwanted energy returning to source. Ask for non beneficial energies to be transmuted into the energy of “love, light, peace and happiness,” and give thanks.
Energetic Protection
As mentioned above, some of us, especially empaths, take on energies that are not harmonious to our wellbeing. There are various ways we can protect our energy fields from these absorptions. Here are a few:
Calling in the Cloak of Archangel Michael: AA Michael wears the blue cloak of protection and carries the shield of truth. You may call in this energy at any time, or perhaps you want to start each day by evoking it. You may also call it in for your children, or other minors, to help shield them. To do this, ask AA Michael to cover you (or your child) with his blue cloak. Imagine and/or feel this blue, shielding energy moving up from your feet, your legs and torso, and over the back of your head, like a cloak. Give thanks.
The Gold Energy of Source and Metatron: I like to use AA Metatron’s energy and/or the gold energy of source to shield myself, groups of people, and even the planet. It’s a powerful, gold energy comprised of the highest frequencies of love/light. This is a shielding of absolute love, and should be done with this intention. Imagine this energy as a golden ball of light, and extend it out as large as needed. Again, give gratitude.
Stone and Crystals: For extra protection, you may want to wear or carry close to you, shielding stones or crystals, or make a medicine bag of small stones to wear around your neck. These may include: amethyst, rock quartz, bloodstone, black onyx, black tourmaline and citrine. Use, with intention, what stones feel right for you.
