Holy Ground

IMG_2176

I’m not going to tell you that the moon

keeps the secrets of the tides

because you hold the ocean in your body

When you are still

feel the waves rushing you softly to the edges

bringing you back to center

You were not born broken and forgotten

you, who were birthed with the strength of cohesion

and the force of a division that remembers unity

One thousand lives might bring you back to the place of origin

or you can go there now

riding the breath like a wave to seed the sacred

within

your body becoming the holy ground

fertile to the quickening pulse

ripe with life

it rocks with the memory

of home

Captured – #writephoto prompt

Once again I’m inspired by Sue Vincent’s photography and have participated in her #writephoto prompt writing challenge.  This time I decided to do a poem in the shape of an hourglass, but one could also look at as a chalice mirrored.

A Love Story Captured

Only the stones know the true love story

how his fire softens as he falls into her body

to welcome the full beauty of her night

they chart the cycle of life

as a way to keep time

what you see

is but a mirror of what

you cannot see, below grass

life grows in darkness using the memory

of his light like a divine beacon in her heart

they birth green in the hour of spring

The Portal to Light

IMG_2115

The Portal to Light

Open to Truth

lay fear by the bedside

and crawl into the abyss

where time holds no meaning

except to remember

you are a halo of the whole

hidden inside the fabric of self

speak of rainbows

feel the sun shine within

the program you cling to is false

a mere shadow of who you really are

Paddle boarding

Paddle boarding

They say Jesus walked on water

but today I am Isis on the Nile

Queen of Ra whose radiant fingers

splay the shadow of form into beautiful

Medusa stirring Poseidon’s passion

into the weightless ecstasy of light

About this poem…I really wanted to include a photograph, but alas I have yet to venture out onto a paddle board with a camera. I was inspired to write this poem while observing the reflection, or rather, absorption of my shadowed form upon the water. The way both the water and the light had captured my form and transformed it, recreating it into a weightless goddess of light. It is quite mesmerizing to watch the play of light and water upon one’s shadow.

The Body Beneath

The Body Beneath

The words sound like she is falling

apart, but she is coming together. Rebirth

is not measured in months. 9

years ago her body was a volcano

erupting with night to release repression

Dreams dwell in darkness more easily than light

and the voice that calls out to Truth must breach

the cloak that binds. She is a human

awakening through layers, shedding

the heavy garments of deception

while the body beneath blooms light

The Dreamer

IMG_1689

The Dreamer

A self undefined, she follows the moon

pulling the tide into the ocean of her neck

to spill a blue rhythm that caresses the folded

notes of voice

Can you hear her heart song

rising through fear? It is drumming

Truth into a rainbow bridge

climbing scales back to the heights of Self

past clouds that offer rain

 to the Sun that gleams

in her belly, now radiant

How can you not see her brilliance?

An Unintentional Gift

An Unintentional Gift

24 hours after you left

my glands began to swell

in a line traced by fingers

my throat was his page

pressed like a vice in anger

5 days later I feel the imprint of words

still waiting for release. Your stitches

triggered memories of suffocation

a girl trapped inside truth

unspoken becomes an unstoppable

force

A Return to Self

A Return to Self

With each inhale

I take my breath back

Mother, I am a daughter

of Earth and the Divine

Source that is Love

Therefore, I am Love

Mother, with each inhale

I take my breath back

and my body becomes

a  sacred vessel for Joy

Strength, Truth

and the infinite Beauty

of Love

Mother, with each inhale

I take my breath back

and release your fears

The Body’s Reply

The Body’s Reply

You see, Child of the Mind
I cannot lie

When you let go of constriction
I follow the moon-tide

Old blood releases
to return Her light

Whoever said the moon is man
lies to hold fear in thrall

Enchantment is a misunderstood
power of denial

The magic to being
is coded in every cell I hold

When you divide anger with forgiveness
you receive abundance

I play by simple math

The product of tolerance
minus hate is love

These rules you have created
only impede our growth

Would you starve a child if you knew
she lived inside the hunger of your heart?

Give her the breath you trap
it is enough to feed her

To understand infinity free the wings
you have tied behind my back

Reunion is simple addition
after you learn the rules of subtraction

Healing a Voice Silenced

Healing a Voice Silenced

She asked me how I was doing

honestly, I didn’t know. The body

plays tricks on the mind. The tight

throat triggers memories of chocking

words. But they are coming easier

flowing beyond constriction

into the limitless space of Truth

Flowing Beyond Constriction
