#Faraway #suevincent #writephoto prompt

When I saw Sue’s writing prompt photo from this past Thursday, I knew I would likely participate, but something told me to wait. This morning, I opened my inbox to her post from Ani and was graced with a quiet space to sit with what it had to offer. As Sue’s posts have a way of doing, I felt that familiar call to a faraway home that is, perhaps, not so far away.

Your cells hum with the memory of a faraway home

Can you here it?

It sounds like sand moving through water

They move through you like a tide

Your body the cave

The womb inside emptied

Waiting for the flood

To fill it whole again

Life returns in cycles

And your body hungers

For the return

To grow the fertile seeds

Oh, I have seen you, before

she whispers light back into your cells

I too have been waiting in this darkened cave

Eons passed in a chasm of hungered silence

But it is nothing to me, only to you

I understand the tides

I understand the cycle

The long leave

Before the return

Birth is always a memory held inside

Your fertile ground

And I am here always

Waiting without desire

To welcome you home

Again

The Song of Change

IMG_9874 The song of repression
Sings
Inside you and me
One billion voices
Sound like silence
Until the ear chooses to hear

Today one billion notes are singing
Through cellular walls
Can you hear them?
They sound like an unchained
melody
Bass notes dancing with sopranos
Spiraling into unity
Harmonizing our cells
Back to Light

This poem was written in honor of all who have endured the abuses of repression and acts of violence. We are hearing your songs, keep singing them into the beautiful harmony of change.

The Current of Life #poetry #yogapoems

Life continually humbles

Throwing me backward into the current

To tumble among rocks

Where am reminded that I am a collection

Of molecules adhered into a body

To experience unity, even though

The mind reaches for division

Parting the elements with thoughts

Breaking cohesion with beliefs of otherness

But when I am swept backward

Back into the current that is life

I am reminded of Truth

The essence of things broken down

Into origins. That I am a body flowing

With molecules holding hydrogen to oxygen

Bound to carbon stolen from a life before me

Realizing, I have borrowed this collected body

So that I might experience life gathered together

Before its bonds are broken, then gathered, once again

Into the ever-flowing current

Somewhere in the forest, there are trees dancing to the light

they beckon you, calling to earless cells

“Come with us, sway to the wind’s breath

Hold out your arms, gather

together

without judgment

draw in unity as you move

Your feet will recognize the rhythm of the soul

Some people see with the eyes

Others with the heart

Open the inner to the green unfolding

and dance.”

#Crossings #writephoto prompt #SueVincent

It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in Sue Vincent’s #writephoto prompts. Life has been busy and has included a trip to this land that feels like home.

Crossings

I looked at the bridge framed in green

To that faraway place where I felt I belonged

Wanting to step through an image that looked like home

“But you are already home, my child”

The voice inside felt like comfort

Soundless to the ear, but not to the heart

I knew it to be mine,

 but not wholly mine

So, I went inward to walk beneath the bridge

I painted the water with my toe

and watched circles

spreading rings outward

like the voice inside

 I knew to be home

It is said water is the keeper of memories

Can you see fear splashing

into the well of joy?

The struggle of the self

to be individual

breaking waves

of separation

feeding life for a moment of time

until drought brings death?

Can you see the return of the drops

collecting into adhesion

Concentric circles spreading

union until the ripple disappears?

#Waiting #Writephoto Prompt

Create your own sunshine, she said

The walls you erect around you

hold the body, but not the soul

It is the mind’s choice to walk the corridors

of the shadow-land

where fear lurks as a transparent ghost

waiting to possess your form

Why pace the hallways you have already traveled

back and forth

as though Time can be captured?

What are you waiting for?

The return of a joy that slipped by you

after kissing, for a moment, your eager lips?

you, who are forever returning to the ghost

that wants to feed upon you

When the choice is always within you

to live free

in the boundless now

  illumined in the full glory

of the ever-present soul

I dreamt of holding white dresses

like a wedding

because we all seek to be adorned with beauty

don’t we?

A brown cake rippled

in frosted garlands by a child’s

hand guided with a confidence

so easily lost to age

My feet run the hallway of records

life’s footsteps echoing off walls

which seem so solid to the mind

The light beyond the tunnel almost

an illusion

when matter enfolds the path

And so it is that we become

a branch of a tree

reaching toward the sun

A drop in the ocean

seeking the wave

A heartbeat drumming

the Earth’s pulse

Knowing the Self

is an infinite part

of the Whole

the waters of Life

are birthed forth

from the great womb

they travel the cosmos

in a spiral dance

collecting in clouds

that part the dusk of illusion

raining into the body

that is your life

and also mine

A prayer for the trees that are about to be pruned #poetry #trees #natureprayer

May you feel my love

and the reverence I hold for your life

May you know my gratitude

for the beauty of your spring

and the fruit of your summer

May your limbs fall gently

and with ease

back to Earth
