In honor of the #WATWB for this month, I have chosen another environmental article. I found the article hidden inside the real estate section of our Sunday newspaper, The Concord Monitor. I can’t tell you why they chose to place it there, but I’m glad I found it. It gives me some hope that even the big names like Procter & Gamble, who have been pretty far from being green in the past with their products and packaging, are trying to get onto the eco bandwagon.
The article, “‘The milkman model’: Big brand names try reusable containers” by Katherine Roth of the Associated Press, can also be found here online. TerraCycle, a company that has long been devoted to repurposing packaging and reducing waste, is behind the initiative. Coming this spring to major cities such as New York and Paris, customers will be order from a website called Loop, and receive popular products such as ice cream and shampoo in reusable containers delivered to their doors. We’ll see how it goes, but it does sound promising.
A Special thank you to the month’s cohosts: Inderpreet Uppal, Sylvia Stein, Shilpa Garg, Simon Falk, Damyanti Biswas

Thank you Carol. I do hope it sparks some real change for the way we package products.

So do I Alethea it was a good discovery and I do hope the big companies really try to make it work and are not using it to generate good publicity 🙂
